Progressive Christian Study - Summer 2011
Our goal for the summer study is to learn to articulate our progressive Christian faith. How do we communicate a Christianity that is inclusive of all, respectful of other spiritual paths, non-doctrinal and non-dogmatic? This is not easy as Christianity is viewed almost solely within an evangelical framework, both in secular and religious culture.
Our study will be guided by Jesus's teachings as well as the book, "What Does a Progressive Christian Believe?" by Delwin Brown and the 8 Points of Progressive Christianity, which you can read at www.progressivechristianity.org.
Progressive Christianity, writes theology professor Delwin Brown, is united in opposing right-wing religion but also desires to go beyond "liberal" and "conservative" labels. Brown's book "arose out of the stunned realization that the historic tradition of progressive Christian thought and action had virtually disappeared from our public discourse."
Join us in our discourse as we explore what it means to be a progressive Christian.

"An approach to Christianity that is inclusive, innovative, informed..." The 8 Points of Progressive Christianity will guide us we explore a Christian faith which strives to foster understanding over dogmatism and literalism.
FCC is a universally inclusive church, welcoming individuals of every race, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, and at all stages of life, health, and ability.
